Chris Shields was raised in Kansas City, Missouri. An incessant drawer paying a little too much attention to detail, Chris obsessed over art projects, Legos, Star Wars action figures and the perfect arrangement of his room. One of his earliest creative memories was painting his ideal home using his mother’s oils (a work she still proudly displays to this day). The son of a Computer Engineer, Chris attended the University of Missouri at Rolla where he received his undergraduate degree in Physics with subfocus in Mathematics and Teaching.
While Chris began his career working for the high-tech firms of Hughes Aerospace and Sun Microsystems, his love of art and design lead him back to school and into his true calling. He has wanted to help people tell their stories through the design of their homes ever since.

Chris’s design career began at the Denver firm of Tony Torres Interiors, Inc. At Tony Torres, he was exposed to a blend of high-style with comfort, as well as the art of finely tailored window treatments. A move to San Francisco and a position with the legendary showroom Kneedler-Fauchere opened his eyes to the world of refined taste and uncompromised craftsmanship; it also taught him the tenets of luxury service and the importance of nurturing lasting partnerships within the design community. While specializing in the modern aesthetic of Holly Hunt, Chris’s appreciation and taste for the truly eclectic, yet casual mix found in good Californian design blossomed.

Chris’s position at Kneedler-Fauchere led him to work for the timeless firm of Alice Wiley & Associates. Working in the tradtional aesthetic taught Chris the fundementals of furniture placement, layered details and the importance of incorporating antiques. Through these exeriences, Chris has worked in a variety of styles and partnered with many craftspeople. Chris launched his own design firm in 2014.

Outside the office, Chris can be found hiking the woods and seashores of Northern California, in the kitchen baking -the best- coffee cake and creating for his blog where he shares his Midwest upbringing, San Francisco adventures and love of friends and family from Kansas City, Missouri to Kona, Hawaii.
